The immediate past Vice Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, Bar. Sir J.B.C. Obikwelu has redeemed the five hundred thousand pledge he made to Anambra State FA/NEROS 2023 FA cup winners, Ozalla FA.
He redeemed the pledge today at the Anambra State FA Office in the presence of the FA Chairman, Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi.
He pointed out that the pledge is a way of encouraging the proprietor of Ozalla FA, Chidi Osueke, and his club to consider their continued participation in every edition of the competition for more than seventeen years.
He advised the team to remain focused on lifting the national FA cup as they go into the round of 64 matches against Doma Fc (an NPFL club side) in Abuja on the 26th of April 2023 at the Package B field, Moshud Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
He noted that part of the reason he did this is to also key into the lofty height the present FA, led by Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi is taking football to in Anambra State since he took over the mantle of leadership of the FA. He urged everyone to work in harmony to actualize this dream of making football great in Anambra state.
He promised to do more when and if the need arises and pledged his support to the programs of the FA while emphasizing the rate at which the present FA is going, the sky will be their starting point.
He also thanked the FA Chairman, Gen. Iloenyosi for attracting a total of four National FA round of 64 matches to Anambra State, describing it as a welcome development. He urged Anambrarians to come out en mass on the 26th of April to watch three matches to be played at Awka Township Stadium.
Responding, the proprietor of Ozalla FA, Chidi Osueke thanked Bar. Obikwelu for the kind gesture and prayed for God’s blessings upon Sir Obikwelu. He also thanked the FA Chairman, Gen. Iloenyosi for all he has been doing for the progress of football since he took over as the FA Chairman.
He maintained that his team will do their best and represent Anambra State very well in the competition.
The Captian of the team, Ebuka Ewudo was full of praise for Bar. Obikwelu and Gen. Iloenyosi promised that they will not let the State down in the competition.
In his remark, FA Chairman, Gen. Chikelue Iloenyosi thanked Bar. Obikwelu for the continued support and encouragement he has been showing to the present FA leadership and urged him not to relent.
He encouraged the Ozalla FA team to be good ambassadors of the State as they take part in the competition.
Present at the occasion include the acting FA Secretary, Ralph Nweke, some members of Ozalla FA, and the FA Media team.
