The tournament will resume on Saturday, August 17, 2024, across six geopolitical zones.

The tournament, which kicked off last week, is organized by the NYSA and supported by former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku.

NYSA Publicity Secretary Ifeanyi Chukwudi emphasized that the decision to pause the tournament was made to ensure the safety of players, coaches, and officials amidst the ongoing unrest.

“We cannot continue the matches because of the nationwide protests. The safety of the players, coaches, and match officials is paramount to us. We cannot play when the country is under serious nationwide protests,” Chukwudi stated.

He assured participants that the tournament would proceed as scheduled after the postponement and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused. Chukwudi also highlighted the continued support of Chief Emeka Anyaoku, who is passionate about youth and football development.
