This feat followed the heartwarming performance of the State teams during the just concluded North Central Zonal Eliminations held in Jos, Plateau State, from 12th – 14th August 2023.

Nasarawa State who went to the Eliminations with five male Teams, namely, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, and Volleyball, qualified in three, Hockey, Basketball, and Volleyball, respectively.

In Volleyball, the State picked one of the two tickets for the Zone on technical grounds after Niger State was stripped of it for fielding an ineligible player in their game against F.C.T., Abuja.

Accordingly, Nasarawa State will represent the Zone alongside Niger State in the Hockey Event, Niger State in the Basketball game, and F.C.T., in the Volleyball game, respectively, at the main event in Asaba Delta State, next month.

Plateau and Niger States will represent the Zone in the football game while Kwara and Niger States will feature in the Handball event.

Recall that Team Nasarawa had gone for the North Central Zonal Eliminations of the National Youth Games with a total contingent of 126 members, which comprised 74 Athletes, nine Coaches, five Sports Secretaries, and 38 Accompanying Officials.

The delegation has since returned to Lafia on Monday, 14th August 2023, and will be accorded a heroic reception by the Management and Staff of the Ministry on Tuesday.
