The southeast Zonal Coordinator of the NYDP/ALGON Peace Cup Comrade Chiagozie Paddy Obinna KSJI has charged state coordinators in the zone to brace up ahead of the unveiling of the NYDP/ALGON Peace Cup which comes up from July 1-3.
Speaking in Owerri yesterday through the Zonal Media/Publicity Secretary Mr. Joseph Odoekwu, the zonal coordinator Comrade Chiagozie Obinna disclosed that the unveiling of the NYDP/ALGON Peace Cup is one of the events lined up for the International Summit On Peace And Unity of Nigeria.
“We have seen the invitation” he started. “The event has been moved forward from the former date to July 1-3 and it will be at the NAF Conference Centre and this is really good for us”.
“Our coordinators will have additional days to prepare as against the initial date”. “We have been looking forward to the unveiling proper and it’s good a final date is out”.
On the stakeholders partnering with the NYDP/ALGON Peace Cup, Sir Obinna described it as unique and the right path to go.
“The United Nations has keyed into the project and this is very good” he added. “Also, Nigeria Football Federation, Actors Guild of Nigeria and others have all shown interest”, it shows we are truly on the path to making it a unique event” he added.
“We will be expecting all state coordinators in the South East to use this opportunity and liaise with their State Governors and get the best out of the event” he concluded.
Obinna is optimistic that with the manner in which the South East have witnessed some form of restlessness in recent times, Governors in the zone will be glad to key into the Peace Cup project.
He advised all youths in the South/East zone to shun all forms of violence and embrace the Peace Cup when it kicks off soon.
