Stand-in Captain of Edo queens, Glory Ogbonna has said that the experience of the team was the winning factor in their NWFL week 2 clash with Dream Stars Ladies at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
The Edo state-based club defeated the newcomers by an own goal scored by Dream Stars Ladies’ captain, Juliet Eremeole after the home side remained resolute and organized in defense.
Appraising her team’s performance after the win, Ogbonna said Edo Queens did not underrate Dream Stars Ladies despite being newcomers in the league.
“When you are in the field of play, you don’t underrate any team, all you have to do is play to your class and I think that’s what we did, we showed the stuff we were made of; we calmed the ball, played to our own pattern and frustrate their own game. Thank God we are well experienced to be able to do that and get the victory.”
On Chioma Wogu who got a red card in the game, Ogbonna said it is sad to be without her in the next game but they have enough quality to cover in the match.
“Of course we will miss her but a tree cannot make a forest. We still have lots of players that can be up there and make a good impact.”
Ogbonna also thanked the government and all the club’s supporters for the motivation they are giving the club and the team.
With the win at the Soccer Temple, Agege shoots Edo Queens to the top of the NWFL table and also remains one of the three unbeaten clubs in the league as they prepare to face Rivers Angels in the next game at home.
