NWFL: Unlucky Confluence Queens Suffer First Defeat Of The Season Against Nasarawa Amazons

NWFL MatchDay6 Sees Lokoja-Based Team's Unbeaten Streak Broken in Lafia

In a surprising turn of events, Confluence Queens FC of Lokoja experienced their first defeat of the season in the NWFL MatchDay6 encounter against Nasarawa Amazons.

The closely contested match unfolded at the Lafia City Stadium in Nasarawa State, where the Confluence Queens surrendered a hard-fought battle, losing 1-0.

Despite a brilliant display in Lafia, characterized by numerous missed opportunities for the Lokoja-based side, Nasarawa Amazons secured a first-half lead with a goal by Ojiyuvwi in the 18th minute.

Returning from the break, the White Lion ladies launched an intense effort to restore parity, displaying commendable determination. However, their attempts fell short as they struggled to find the cutting edge needed to level the score.

As the minutes dwindled to the final whistle, Kemi Akintan’s effort appeared promising in bringing her side back into the game, but it proved futile.

Confluence Queens’ technical adviser, Sabo Okala, acknowledged the tough challenge presented by Nasarawa Amazons and commended his team’s great fight. “Nasarawa Amazons is a team to be reckoned with; it was a good game from both sides today,” Okala stated.

Expressing a positive outlook despite the defeat, Okala emphasized the exhibition of good football and pledged to address the identified lapses in future matches. “We will go back home and strategize and work on the lapses we have seen today to see how we can come out good in our next game,” he concluded.

Confluence Queens will now regroup and prepare for their upcoming match against Naija Ratels in Abuja on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, as they aim to bounce back from this setback in the NWFL season.
