Things are not certainly going on well at least administratively with newly-promoted NWFL Premiership side Royal Queens having a third key official resign from the side in the person of Coach Patricia Ifunnaya in the last three months.
First was the resignation of the technical director of the club, one-time chairman/owner of defunct Ufuoma babes of Warri citing unhealthy living conditions of the players in camp.
In December 2021 after the team’s arrival from the 2nd edition of the flying officer cup in Abuja, Coach Abayomi Olorunda resigned citing unprofessional conduct from the team’s management.
tobexSports took time to find out from coach Ifunnaya the reasons for her unceremonious exit from the club weeks after her elevation to the position of the assistant coach of the team.
” I have noticed many things from the club that kept me confused ranging from signing 3 years contracts for players without their knowledge.
I have requested several times for an appointment letter or written contract with my lawyer but they kept on dodging it”. Coach Ifunnaya revealed.
” A chairman of a club can not send an SMS to me saying he has reduced my salary because I traveled twice in three months when i lost my blood brother, trips which he sanctioned in the first place that I should go”.
The so-called money can not even be termed as a salary but an allowance. I accepted the figure because I wanted to experience coaching girls as against my male football background –
Coach Ifunnaya who has once had a stint with Rangers int explained further.
Royal Queens FC has won one game, lost two games out of their three games in the NWFL Premiership season.
It will be seen how Royal Queens will fulfill their regulation indices of having a minimum of two female coaches on the technical bench in a competitive match.
