Though they remain bottom of the log, Chukwu disclosed that everyone in the squad from Owerri is still upbeat with their goalless draw versus the host team, Bayelsa Queens, on Friday.

That result stopped the hosts from keeping a hold on top spot of the NWFL Super-6 table, and Chukwu averred that her side can also play spoiler to the title aspirations of the second placed Angels from Port Harcourt.

The agile shot-stopper added that the biggest problem with Heartland Queens is inexperience, as they are in the Super-6 for the first time, but posited that they would be able to shock Rivers Angels on Sunday if all the players concentrate better during the game.

Uchenna Chukwu declared with a relish in her voice, “I expected this upset to happen in this game today because we discussed so much about this match.

“We spoke to ourselves about the match, and all of us agreed on one thing … that everybody will put in their very best. That’s why all of us did very well today.

“For our last match on Sunday. By God’s grace, we are going to put in more effort. They will see more of the very best from us that day, by the grace of God.

“This Super-6 is our first appearance. At least, we have one or two experiences that we have got from this competition.

“We have very young players in our midst, and they need more concentration during matches.”
