A former player of Confluence Queens of Lokoja, Kogi State, Goodness Osigwe has confessed that she was happy scoring a brace of goals against them.
Osigwe pulled off the feat with Edo Queens of Benin City on Saturday at Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, in the first match of this year’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6.

After netting twice and providing an assist in Edo Queens’ 5-1 victory, Osigwe said she just had to show her former team that she has improved in the game and that she is better now at scoring goals.
She added that Saturday’s victory was a good reward for great efforts all the Benin City-based players put into preparations for the competition, hence their delight in snatching maximum points on the opening day.
Osigwe voiced her delight, saying: “It was a good one for us. We are happy that we won. We have come a long way in our preparations. All the running, struggling, and the days of fasting, I am happy that everything today went well.
“It’s a good day to me personally, because I played against my former team and scored two of the goals. I am very happy, because it’s a way of showing that I have improved since leaving them, and I can now score better goals.”
She then turned her focus on Monday’s match and declared: “For the next game, all I will say is let God take control. With God’s aid, I promise that I will try and make my goals three.”
