Edo Queens of Benin City have been promised a level playing ground and fair play when they battle Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa in the last match of the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6 on Sunday.
This assurance was given by the vice-cheerleader of Bayelsa Queens’ supporters club, Mrs Ruth Kessie-Mordi, who stressed that she and her members are never biased or partisan in their chants.

She further pointed out that hosting the NWFL Super-6 at Samson Siasia Stadium in Bayelsa State’s capital, Yenagoa is not a guarantee for the home team to win the contest.
Kessie-Mordi, however, expressed confidence in the ability of Bayelsa Queens to carry the trophy with victory over the current top-placed Edo State-owned invaders, once the home side put their act together and rearrange their house in proper order.
The amiable fan pointed out that Bayelsa Queens have been guilty of some costly errors so far in the ongoing competition and stressed that they would only win Sunday’s match if they turn out to be the better side on the evening in Yenagoa.
She reiterated: “In football, the better side can win. It doesn’t mean we must win because we are the home team.
“The truth is that our girls have been making some little mistakes, the cause of which I can’t tell as a fan, but the coach knows better. We can only pray that they play well and that the better side gets the result.”
The assistant cheerleader then spoke about the mettle of Bayelsa’s fans group and affirmed their resilience, but she stopped short of tagging them as best among the rest.
“I can’t say we are the best supporters, but we have to be good fans. Whether our team is winning or losing, we are always there for them. We have to show that we are fully in support, whether they are winning or not.
“One thing that I want to tell the crowd is that it does not mean because you are hosting that you must win or that we must collect the cup.
“The truth of the matter is that the better side should win,” Kessie-Emordi stressed.
She concluded with an affirmation of the cordial hospitality that is the core of Bayelsa State and all fans at the 2024 NWFL Super-6 have attested to it.
“We accommodate everyone, visitors or residents. Whether you are from Bayelsa or any part of the world, we host you as one.
“Football is one mother, one father. So, we host everyone the same way,” she concluded.
