NWFL Super 6: All Hope Not Lost for Naija Ratels – Ugochi

The 2022 NWFL Super six has been a thrilling event since it began, approaching day three.

Bayelsa Queens had trashed Naija Ratels 4:0 in a day two fixture of the Super six. The Abuja based club suffered a huge defeat in the hands of Bayelsa Queens with ease at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, Edo State.

This loss resulted in sending down Ratels club to the bottom of the table with no points at all in two matches. Thier last match with Bayelsa Queens saw the top striker of Bayelsa Queens Monday Gift opened scoring in the 11th minute with a superb strike, about twenty-five yards away from goal. She then converted a header from a free-kick in the 40th minute to end the first half with a 2-0 score in favour of the Bayelsa Queens. Etim Edidiong contributed her quota in sinking the ship of Naija Ratels by providing the third goal of the day.

It was not an easy day for Naija Ratels as they played second fiddle to a more experienced and star studded side. Bayelsa Queens are one of the best legs Nigeria has to offer the works in terms of club quality. Speaking to Naija Ratels’ Head Coach, Anya Ugochi, she expresses hopes that the competition is still too early to write her side off yet. “That we lost today doesn’t mean we can’t win again. We still have three matches to play and if we win them, we still have a chance. We are not disturbed because we will go back to the drawing board and make some corrections and we are going to come out strong in the next game”.

Naija Ratels sit comfortably at the base of the table with no single point having lost all two previous games and a goal difference of minus seven.
