Technical adviser of Bayelsa Queens Moses Adiku has revealed to Sports247.ng that getting the win against Sunshine Queens of Akure was as a result of taking the few chances they got in the match and he is looking forward to playing defending Champions Nasarawa Amazons in the final of the Super four on Sunday.
10- Women Bayelsa Queens beat Sunshine Queens by a lone goal scored by Reuben Charity in the 45th minute of the encounter and coach of the team Adiku has attributed the win to taking their chances despite the harsh weather and the rustiness having ended the league a long while back.
He said; “I want to attribute the victory to God. The weather didn’t help our kind of game which led to my girls deviating from our original playing pattern which can also be attributed to the fact that it’s been a long time since the league went off so I think we did well.”
Bayelsa Queens will play Nasarawa Amazons in Sundays final and Adiku is hopeful of getting the win in other to present the trophy as a present to the Bayelsa State governor on his birthday; “Our aim is to win the trophy because we’ve missed out of any trophy for 11 years. We want to also use the trophy to celebrate our able governor Seriaki Dickson for his support. Monday is his birthday so we will like to present it to him as a birthday present.”
Goalkeeper Alaba Jonathan was instrumental in the team’s win after series of fantastic saves with the team’s boss saving some accolades for the Super Falcons invitee; “Our goalkeeper was fantastic, our attackers didn’t see a lot of chances but the ones they saw they played well and took them but Sunshine could not take theirs.
Sometimes football is like that, a times you don’t start well sometimes you do. Sunshine played good football for 90 minutes. I played football to a very high level and when I see good football I say it the way it is but my girls got the opportunity and they took it.” He said.
