It was an intriguing encounter between the two Queens from the blast of the whistle as the two sides yet to lose a game in the NWFL SUPER 6 gave a good account of themselves with Sunshine Queens in the 4th’ pulling the first attack of the game when Abideen Suliat’s cross was headed off target by former Delta Queens Forward Rose Ekong and Demehin Tosin’s effort went wide.
In the 7′ of play, Delta Queens’ new girl Chiamaka Okwuchukwu’s Superb header beats Elizabeth Johnson to put Delta Queens in Front in a match both sides needed a win to stay in contention.
All efforts by Former Delta Queens Girl Rose Ekong and a determined Sunshine Queens attack met a brick wall in the Delta Queens Folorunsho Comfort and Angela Micheal led the defense as well as a formidable Maria Nwoko, Edafe Mamuzo, Tejiri Edward, and new girl Chioma …dominated midfield and the first half ended with the home side Sunshine Queens trailing one-nil.
The second half saw Delta Queens bring in Amarachi Orjinma and Peace Abbey and Peace Abbey was later brought down inside the 18-yard box of Sunshine Queens in the 54′ to book a Penalty for her side.
Chiamaka Okwuchukwu did not make any mistake as she neatly slots in her second goal for the day and third for the NWFLSuper 6.
The second goal saw Sunshine Queens come all out to make a mark but Delta Queen’s safe hands-on goal, Ihuoma Onuegbu who saved a penalty in their last encounter continued to make very good saves.
She however almost lost it in the 70″ she failed to handle Abideen Suliat’s free-kick but did well to recover on time before it could result in any damage and it ended 0-2 in favor of Delta Queens.
After matchday three, FC Robo Queens is on top of the log with 7pts (+5 GD).
same with Delta Queens on joint 7pts but with a +3 goal difference as against a +5 advantage on the side of the Lags-based FC Robo side.
Rivers Angels is in the third position with 5pts and +4 on goal difference, Sunshine Queens on forth with 4pts and no goal advantage, while Bayelsa Queens has just 1pt with a -6 goal difference on 5th position as GD with
Edo Queens yet to win a game on 0 pt with a goal of -5 goal difference.
