From Lafia to Asaba, Lagos to Uyo, teams jostled for Playoff berths and survival, as Nasarawa Amazons handed Edo Queens their first defeat of the season, while Naija Ratels dragged the Super Six race to the final day of the regular season.
Amazons Dent Edo’s Aura in Lafia
In what was arguably the most anticipated fixture of Matchday 13, Nasarawa Amazons ended Edo Queens’ 12-match unbeaten run with a narrow but significant 1-0 victory at the Lafia City Stadium.
Despite having already secured a Playoff spot, Coach Moses Aduku made wholesale changes to his starting XI, opting to rest regular stars like Etim Sunday, Marvelous Akpobaro, Rebecca Adegbemile, Mary Mamudu, and Emem Essien.
The decision would come back to haunt the Benin Arsenals, who looked slightly disjointed throughout the encounter.
The Solid Babes, on the other hand, approached the tie with urgency and determination, knowing that only a win would keep them in a strong position for the Playoffs.
Coach Christopher Danjuma named a strong starting XI and got the reward in the dying moments when Janet Akekeromowei pounced in the 89th minute to score the game’s only goal.
The victory saw Nasarawa Amazons climb to second place in Group A with 28 points, just four adrift of Edo Queens and two ahead of Remo Stars Ladies, who have a game in hand.
Naija Ratels Take Super Six Battle to the Wire
Naija Ratels breathed new life into their Playoff dreams with a clinical 2-0 win over Delta Queens in Asaba.
Having struggled with consistency in recent weeks, the Abuja-based side needed a positive result to stay in the hunt—and they delivered.
Sofiat Bankole opened the scoring with a composed finish in the first half, setting the tone for a disciplined and focused performance. Rita Tsebee then doubled the advantage in the second half to seal all three points for Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side.
The result lifts Ratels into third place in Group A, leapfrogging FC Robo Queens. With one round of matches left, the Abuja side will look to finish strong and book their Super Six ticket.
Robo Slip in Uyo
FC Robo Queens’ Playoff hopes took a major hit after they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ibom Angels in Uyo. Despite dominating possession for large parts of the game, the Lagos-based side were undone by a moment of brilliance from Uwah Abasiofon, who scored the only goal in the 37th minute.
Robo Queens, who had been in strong contention for a top-three finish, now find themselves playing catch-up. With Naija Ratels overtaking them in the standings, their Super Six fate now hinges on the final matchday and other results
Bayelsa Queens Stay Unbeaten
Bayelsa Queens continued their impressive form with a gritty 1-0 win over Rivers Angels in the South-South derby.
Alaba Obabiyi’s third-minute goal was enough to secure all three points for the Prosperity Girls, who remain the only unbeaten side in the league this season.
With 10 wins and two draws from 12 games, Bayelsa have already sealed top spot in Group B and are strong contenders heading into the Super Six Playoffs.
Their consistency and efficiency under pressure have marked them out as the team to beat.
Survival Battles Rage On
In Anyigba, Confluence Queens earned just their second win of the campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Ekiti Queens.
Hannah Yusuf was the heroine of the day, netting in the 57th minute to give the hosts a glimmer of hope in their relegation battle.
The result does not lift Confluence Queens out of the danger zone yet, but it gives them a fighting chance heading into the final matchday. For Ekiti Queens, the defeat adds to a difficult campaign marred by inconsistency.
Meanwhile, in Lagos, Dannaz Ladies also kept their survival hopes alive with a 1-0 win over Heartland Queens.
It was a tense affair at the Legacy Pitch, with both sides desperate for points. In the end, it was Ulumma Korie who broke the deadlock in the 86th minute to hand Dannaz their second win of the season.
Debutants Dig Deep in Lafia
Benue Queens showed remarkable grit and character in a thrilling 2-2 draw with Adamawa Queens.
The league debutants twice came from behind after goals from Omon Afensimi and Josephine Dzer gave the visitors the lead.Second-half penalties from Joy Ikyagh and Anastasia Emefo ensured a share of the spoils for the Makurdi-based side. While not enough to secure safety, the result keeps them mathematically in contention for survival heading into the final day of the regular season.
