The secretariat of the Nigeria Women Football League has announced the postponement of the kick off date for the Women Amateur League Championship from January 20, to February 2, 2020.
The Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Alhaji Ayo Abdulrahman, said Friday in a statement from Abuja, that, the postponement was at the instance of some of the amateur clubs, who complained about the short notice for registration, especially at the beginning of a new year where it’s difficult to bring players together.
Ayo Abdulrahman, in full consultation with the Amateur League Coordinator, Joe Amene, announced the extension of the registration deadline from January 16 to January 29, 2020.
Abdulrahman’s statement from Abuja Friday, reads in part:
“In view of the complaints from some Women Amateur League Clubs based on
time constraint sighting short notice for the registration and commencement of the Nigeria Women Amateur League as it would be
difficult for the clubs to assemble their players within such period of time,
the Board of Nigeria Women Football League has graciously granted an extension of the registration deadline to 29th January, 2020 while the commencement of the Amateur League is now scheduled to hold between 2nd – 6th February, 2020 instead of the earlier date, January 20 to 27, 2020.
“In view of this development therefore, all Amateur League Clubs are hereby
advised to ensure compliance as the above dates are sacrosanct.
While thanking you for your usual cooperation and understanding, please
accept the assurances of our highest sporting regards.”
