The Matchday 9 fixture, played at the Legacy Pitch, marked their second consecutive away win after defeating Ekiti United the previous week.
Speaking with Sports247 after the match in Lagos , Nasarawa Amazons Head coach Christopher Danjuma attributed the team’s improved away performances to a shift in mentality and approach.
“We sat down as a team and asked ourselves: Why are we where we are, and how can we improve?” Danjuma explained.
“In the first round, our away performances were below expectations. We conceded too many goals, so we had to reassess our strategy. Now, instead of rushing to win, we focus on staying compact, absorbing pressure, and minimizing mistakes.”
” This new mentality is key to ensuring we survive and reach the Super 6,” he told Sports247.
Danjuma remains focused on securing a top-three finish in the group, which would guarantee the Amazons a spot in the season-ending Super 6—a competition that will determine the league champion.
Addressing the notion of that they a weaker opponent in Dannaz Ladies he emphasized respect for every team in the league.
“We don’t call any Premier League team ‘cheap.’ Every match is unpredictable—it might not be their day, but it could be yours. Our approach isn’t about the perceived strength of the opponent; it’s about building a strong team and staying consistent.”
With this newfound resilience, Nasarawa Amazons are proving to be serious contenders in the race to finish among the top 3 in their group which will guarantee them a place in the Super 6 and a chance to win the NWFL Premiership title.
