NWFL Issues Final Warning To Imo Striker Queens Chairman For Misconduct During Championship Match

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has issued a stern final warning to Prince Chidi, the Chairman of Imo Striker Queens FC, following a series of misconduct incidents during the 2024 NWFL Championship Match No. 9 against Pelican Stars FC on September 1, 2024.

The misconduct in question involved verbal abuse directed at match officials and league management, actions which the NWFL Board and management deemed highly inappropriate and contrary to the league’s regulations. Specifically, these actions were found to violate Article 23.1 and 23.2.2 of the NWFL’s rules.

Article 23.1 requires that all individuals associated with the league adhere to principles of fair play, sportsmanship, and conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the integrity of the game.

The article explicitly prohibits any actions that could bring the game into disrepute, whether through words, behavior, or conduct.

Article 23.2.2 further details the penalties for such violations, which include a fine of N2,000,000 and a suspension of three months for any club official or owner who disparages the league or engages in behavior that damages its reputation.

In light of these infractions, the NWFL has issued a final warning to Imo Striker Queens FC. The league has made it clear that any further incidents of misconduct by the club’s officials will result in severe penalties, potentially including the enforcement of the fines and suspensions outlined in the regulations.

The NWFL has urged Imo Striker Queens FC to take immediate action to address these issues, ensuring that their officials conduct themselves with professionalism and respect for the sporting spirit.

The league emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and preserving a fair and respectful environment for all participants.

“The integrity of our league is non-negotiable,” the NWFL stated, underscoring the seriousness with which it views this matter.
