FC Robo coach Emmanuel Osahon had hailed his players brave fight to record thier first win of the deason as they picked all three points away against Ibom Angels.
The island girls won the game in a five goal thriller emerging as winner with a 2-3 goal scoreline result.
“It’s not a bad performance because we scored the three goals in the first half to show that they are coming up gradually. As you know, Ibom Angels aren’t a push over in Nigerian football, they have to fight back but we just had to hold our own and make sure that we run away with the 2-3 victory,” Osahon said as he rates his team performance.
“A good side, they came out in the second half and gave us a very good fight, a run for our money. We were just lucky to take our chances in the first half and we scored.”
Folashade Jamilusi scored a brace in the encounter, a move which the coach premeditated tactically, “all our strikers even those that went to the World Cup are outside, we had to change them and bring all midfielders on the field and that’s why Shade came out and did something unique.”
“She has a good speed that can help the team so I had to capitalize on the speed and that’s what helped the team and brought the two goals.”
On what the fans should expect for upcoming games, he said, “I don’t know to boast, as we get to the bridge we will cross it, that’s my kind of person. I am not a kind of person that counts my chicken before they are hatched, when we get to the next match then we will know what to do but expect us somewhere higher.”
Clarifying the situation of things on the players side after a handful of them fell and complained of niggles at every minute possible in the game, Osahon stated that it’s due to weather, “it’s the weather, the harmattan because they aren’t used to it, no harmattan in Lagos, I understand.”
“If you watch me very well, I don’t like my players falling down but in this situation, they are coughing and I know that they’ve lost something there, it’s just the harmattan. I had to go back to take water as I am shouting on the touchline.”
On his impression about Ibom Angels, “they are a young side, the government and the coaches just need to be patient. If they can come back from 0-3 down to 2-3, they are a very good side.”
On the reception for his team, “Ibom is like a home to me, I have been coming here for like the past twenty years although I might not be able to speak their language, it’s like home to me which has vastly developed.”
“There’s a lot of development, it’s like home and you can see that I feel very comfortable.”
