With three points from their opening 4-1 victory over FC Robo of Lagos in last week’s match, Edo Queens, who presently leads Group B, will enter Wednesday’s match with vigor, determination, and a strong will to win and leave the oil-rich city with three maximum points, or at the very least a draw.
Despite being in a tough Group, otherwise known as a group of death, Edo Queens and Rivers Angels are not new to each other, the last time both teams met was in the 2021/22 Super Six held in Benin-City Edo State, the teams went toe – to – toe with each other, and at the end of regulation time it was 0-0 situation.
Wednesday’s game will be hot and tough in the sense that this will be coach Moses Aduku’s first time leading the Edo Queens squad against Rivers Angels since he took over the mantle of leadership as technical manager of Edo Queens.
Secondly, since 2021, this is also the first time Edo Queens is playing in the same group with Rivers Angels in the NWFL.
It is a game where the experience and artistic football prowess of the players and the technical crew will be put to the test. It is going to be a game that will be won from the bench.
It is actually going to be a ding-dong fight as the two sides will be parading tested and trusted players who would be fighting to have their club names and signatures written in the 2023/24 Super Six diary.
This game at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium between former NWFL Champions Rivers Angels and current Champions of the 2023 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament BOWFT, Edo Queens is most likely to be the Star match of the week as all eyes will be on the two Niger/ Delta State teams to showcase their stuff.

Recent ratings of NWFL clubs by women football fans and pundits, tip Moses Aduku-led Ladies from the Ancient City of Benin as favourites to make it through from Group B but must be wary of their opponents to avoid upsets en route to potential participation at the National Super Six Africa Women Champions League showpiece.
Rivers State football fans, particularly those living around the Yakubu Gowon area, would be treated to a good football display by both teams. What both teams are requesting is a level playing ground.
In this week’s fixture, Delta Queens FC of Asaba will host a new debutant to the NWFL Remo Stars ladies, while current Federation Cup Champions Bayelsa Queens welcome Ekiti Queens FC in Yenogua, FC Robo will be home to Sunshine Queens, while the star match of the week will be between Rivers Angels and Edo Queens FC.
All matches will be played by 4 Pm except for Delta Queens which will be played by 6 pm.
