Remo Ladies FC of Ikenne are targeting early bragging rights for this year’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) title, as they aim for victory away to their main rivals, Edo Queens of Benin City, sports247.ng reports.
This is the verdict of Remo Ladies’ coach, Wemimo Matthew, who stressed that her lasses are good enough to whip the defending champions at their backyard on Wednesday and go top of table.
Coach Wemimo said she is sure of victory for her side in the top-of-the-table clash, as they have already won their first two matches of the campaign, the first of which was an away fixture.
She affirmed, “We were able to start well. We went for an away game, and we won. Coming back to play our first home game, we also won; which is very good for us.
“Our next game now is Edo Queens, which we also have the mind of going there to prove that we can do it. Definitely, we want to win that game.”
Wemimo also declared that she and her players have already set their sight on sealing a ticket for the NWFL Super-6, but conceded that they have to take the progression step by step.
“Our expectation as a team is that we need to count one before counting two. So, the most important thing for now is for us to qualify for the Super-6. That would be very good for us, and we are working towards it,” the jovial gaffer submitted.
