Deborah Kehinde disclosed as much in an interview with Sports247 after the matchday six encounter, in which she played as a substitute but contributed massively in getting maximum points for the away team.
She admitted that the encounter turned out to be a tough one, hence her observation that the win would not have been possible had all players in the squad from Ikenne not agreed ahead of their trip to Lagos that they would all play their hearts out in order to return to their base with all three points in the bag.
The exuberant attacker recalled, “Today’s game was not easy for us, because of the weather and everything we saw at the venue, but we were determined to win. Before we came here, we had been training very hard for the match. We agreed that we will all put in our best and play well to win the game.”
Kehinde then took a look back at her personal performance in the game and admitted that spending some time on the bench from the beginning of the fixture helped her to survery the run of play and spot where she would be able to make an impact once she went onto the field.
“Before I played this game, I was sitting on the bench. So, I was able to observe the flow, and I noticed what everybody on the field were doing. They were really trying their best. I was able to look at one thing or the other; so that I would be able to try something different when I enter. When I entered, I really tried my best, and we were able to score another goal. When I entered, we were leading 1-0, but we later won the game 2-0,” Kehinde recounted.
