Heartland Queens’ technical adviser, Obi Ogbala has mooted in a very clear and strong term that his side have come to stay in the nation’s topflight.
Unperturbed, the soft spoken gaffer voiced the statement of intent shortly after his side fought bravely to a standstill non other heavyweights than the Nigerian champions and continent third best team, Bayelsa Queens in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership matchday 11 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
Ogbala insisted that his side had a wonderful game even though an outright outsiders to the coveted Super 6 spot would definitely finished the league campaign on high.
“All of us watched the match I believe there is an improvement. We are going back, good a thing we are resting, we are on bye for the next matches, we are going to work on the lapses we observed in this match.
“Sure, we are going to keep our position in the NWFL Premiership.
“Looking at this very match, our game plan was to win, at least, to be more comfortable on the log but the remaining two matches like I said we are going to work tirelessly to see that we maintain our place in the premiership,” enthused the former Nasarawa Amazons gaffer.
Ogbala promised that the dearth and scarcity of goals witnessed in the previous matches will be a thing of the past when his side returned to the trenches for the two games on the calendar.
“We are equally working on attack but not necessarily the attack alone because the type of team we are presenting is one anyone can score, that’s why our defenders have been able to score.
“The overview of the attacking system is we use everyone, anybody can score not only the attackers.
“However, we are working towards that to make sure we put in more goals in our subsequent matches,” said the former Rivers Angels’ tactician.
The Owerri mainstream side are on bye for NWFL Premiership matchday 12 actions but will return to the trenches on April 12 to confront the nation’s most decorated side, Rivers Angels right there in Port Harcourt before wrapping up the season’s campaign on home soil on April 19 against Royal Queens.
The Owerri landladies are fifth on the seven-team Group A log on nine points 12 adrift leaders, Delta Queens.
