Head coach of Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson has revealed the motivation behind thier win against Bayelsa Queens stating that his players knew that a defeat will alter thier league position.
Delta Queens who are unbeaten in the league grabbed a vital 1-2 away victory against CAF Confederation Women’s Cup bronze medalist to hold firm onto thier top spot on the log.
“The entire team and myself are very happy for the win, we have to give everything due to the table because a loss will take us to second position,” the tactician said in an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng.
“That will not be good for the confidence of the players. Winning away from home against a team like Bayelsa Queens is an extra motivation to the players.”
On if they can make it to the very end to be crowned champions, he said that it is still too early to claim Champions.
“The first round of the abridged league just ended, the second round has not started. So for now, our focus is how we will prosecute the second round.”
“The Super Six is a different ball game entirely and when we get there, we will know what to do.”
Blankson further lauded the State sports commission headed by AFN president Chief Tonobok Okowa for his immense contribution to the team allaying that words can’t explain the massive support from him and his executives.
“We can only pay him back by winning the Super Six,” Blankson admitted.
