Head coach of Delta Queens, Tosan Blankson is eyeing super six qualification with the team amidst a tough group placement but he remains firm the team can achieve thier goal alongside getting a continental football ticket to represent Nigeria in intercontinental games.
The tactician is confident that the team will be among the contenders this season as their primary goal for now is to qualify for super six as their group is a very tough one where only three will qualify.
Ahead of thier NWFL game against Osun Babes on Wednesday, Blankson stated the team’s target.
“We all know Osun Babes to be a very good side, we give them that respect as a very good team. But they are beatable and we Delta Queens will be leaving On State with the maximum three points.”
On what the team will be doing differently this season, “not much difference this season, just the continuity and the understanding which will give them an edge.”
On their continental football hopes, “there’s hope for a continental ticket. With the support we are getting from the State government ably led by the Chairman Sports Commission Chief Tonobok Okowa, a continental ticket is our set goal.”
Delta Queens have come a long way under Blankson as they played themselves to the Aiteo Cup finals (National FA) (which haven’t been decided). They then went on to Benin for Betsy Obaseki preseason tournament which they won the bronze medal, defeating Nasarawa Amazon in the 3rd place match.
They also played the Sheroes Cup preseason tournament in Abuja with the winner set to represent the country next year in USA as they defeated Edo Queens in the finals.
