NWFL 2022/23 : Onyechere Eyes NWFL Clean Sheet Against Rivers

Heartland Queens’ most gifted and prized goalkeeper, Uchechi Onyechere has vowed to keep 100% clean sheet against former champions, Rivers Angels.

The two neighbours will face each other in Wednesday’s NWFL Premiership match day 5 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Prior to the titanic clash, the Owerri land ladies were on bye after a heroic goalless draw against reigning champions, Bayelsa Queens in Yenagoa in match day 3 while the Jewels of Rivers were on duty as they piped Naija Ratels with one unreplied goal in Port Harcourt.

Rivers Angels so far enjoy the bragging rights as they have dominated their opposite in all competitions.

Onyechere said she cannot wait any further to put on the gloves having waited patiently for the clash against visiting Garden City side.

“I’m going to jealously guide my territory to ensure no shot from the opponents enters into my own net.

“I need 100% clean sheet in all matches going forward, I want to be counting my clean sheets match after match until I reach the 12 games.

“I have already counted one clean sheet against reigning champions, Bayelsa Queens and tomorrow (Wednesday) I’m going to count clean sheet number two, three and on and on because the target is eight, nine clean sheets.

“I need the clean sheets badly in order to further boost my record of emerging the best safe hands at the end of league season.

“I’m excited this fixture is coming at this time of the season as I have been waiting patiently for the clash.

“I believe we are going to win convincingly notwithstanding the opponents’ profile as several champions.

“We are Heartland Queens and the clash is happening at our home ground and we will claim the three points at stake.

“It would be doom for us to drop points at home and we want to join the ranks of teams with wins in the league.

“We showed class in the last match in 2022 against the giants, champions and Africa’s third best, Bayelsa Queens, we are more than ever determined to continue the giant stride against Rivers Angels,” said the Nigerian cadet team invitee.

Heartland Queens are at the foot of Group A on paltry one point against visitors’ fourth place on six points with the same number of three matches.
