Coach Obi Ogbala has been named as the technical adviser of the NWFL Premiership side, Heartland Queens FC.
Prior to today’s elevation, the soft spoken former coach of Nasarawa Amazons, Rivers Angels Pelican Stars, etc. has served the team in various coaching capacities.
In a minor shakeup in the coaching crew and management aimed at improving the fortune of the club in the ongoing NWFL Premiership season as announced by the Commissioner for Youth & Sports, Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo in his office on Tuesday the hitherto occupier of the position, coach Ben Nwoke was dropped from the line of duties.
Former Nigerian international, Stella Mbachu retained her position in the shakeup as assistant coach. Also retained in her position was the goalkeeper coach, Rosemary Nkiruka Ngoka while notable grassroots coach, Chinedu Iwu is announced as the trainer.
Assistant coach, Daniel Omeka lost out in the shakeup the same as the team’s masseur, John Kingsley Echendu.
The team manager, Philomena Iheanetu was redeployed back to the Sports Commission while the incumbent secretary, Henrietta Agbaere was asked to temporarily add the functions of the team manager to hers.
The Commissioner hinted of a plan to build vibrant and virile feeder team of Heartland Queens around the dropped coaches.
The new technical adviser was immediately handed a two-match ultimatum upon restart of the league after the presidential and national assembly elections on Wednesday, March 01.
Heartland Queens are fifth on the seven-team Group A log on eight points nine behind leaders, Delta Queens.
The Owerri side will return to the dugout with a crunch matchday 10 matchup against perennial albatross, Delta Queens in Asaba on Wednesday, March 01 and next come home to face the reigning champions, Bayelsa Queens on Wednesday, March 15.
