As Edo Queens Football Club of Benin host Abia Angels FC of Aba tomorrow Thursday 12th of January, 2023 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City in match day 6 of the Nigeria Women Football League NWFL premiership,
Edo State Deputy Governor His Excellency Rt.Hon.Comrade Philip Shaibu, has charged Edo Queens squad to maintain their leadership position in Group B of the NWFL premiership for 2022/23 season as they prepare to show their supremacy over the visiting girls from Abia State in tomorrow’s cracker.
According to him: “Well let me congratulate all for your performance so far, some of you who are old in this club knows that I usually come and train with you people, but this time around you know that we politicians have a great job at hand. The election is fast approaching, so I’m sorry that I have not find time to come train with you girls for quite some months now, but I promise to resume training after the election.”
“You also know that we are not there yet, you need to double your efforts towards the game because we all know our target. So untill the battle is fought and won, we can not say we have arrived. So I want you to keep the winning spirit on. In tomorrow’s match against Abia Angels, play your game and don’t put yourself under any tension. Play your normal game and get the victory. We on our part will continue to support you and all we require from you players is nothing but your best.”
Having done marvelously well since the beginning of the new season, the Moses Aduku-led Queens are expected to double their efforts in tomorrow’s game against the Ann Chijile tutored ladies so as to maintain the driver’s seat before the end of the first Stanza of the NWFL premiership.
However, these recent performances by the ladies from the ‘Heart beat’ have prompted a rethink within the camps of other teams in the group that Edo Queens is a team to watch out for in the NWFL premiership title race for the 2022/23 season.
For Abia Angels, they are also very determined wanting to prove a point to their contemporaries in the group. But it will be an uphill task for them because Edo Queens is not ready to give anything to chance they are highly focussed and ready to keep the winning mentality on till the end of the season.
Since the beginning of this 2022/23 season, only Edo Queens and Delta Queens have won two away games. In tomorrow’s game, what is most important is nothing but three maximum points.
Though Abia Angels are no pushover, they have also done well recently at home. One important thing is that they have never beaten Edo Queens whether in friendly encounter or competitive football. They parade quality players no doubt but Edo Queens team are physically and mentally prepare to face whatever challenges may come their way in Thursday’s encounter.
