Edo Queens Football Club of Benin will this Wednesday the 30th of March 2022, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin-City host Pelican Stars FC of Calabar in the last home match of the 2021/2022 NWFL match day premiership game.
Having suffered 2-0 defeat in the hands Nasarawa Amazons last week at the Lafia City Stadium, Edo Queens are expected to go into this game on Wednesday with vigor and vexation to make sure they return to winning ways and use the match to officially wrap-up the ticket for Super 6, which happens to be the biggest Women football fiesta in the country.
At this point in time, it is a well- known fact that Edo Queens are resilient as they have their eyes fixed on the NWFL title having lost only one game since the beginning of the season. It is also important to note that the team has moved on, and are physically and mentally ready to maintain their leadership role in Group A.
For the Benin based girls, they have promised to come out smoky on Wednesday against the ladies from Calabar and grab the maximum three points, leaving them to swim in their already battered situation as the weeping team of the group.
In the first leg game played in Calabar, Edo Queens defeated Pelican Stars 1-0 right in front of their aggressive teeming home fans. So in this return leg in Benin, we don’t need a prophet to tell us that Edo Queens will also show their supremacy by making sure they replicate what they did in Calabar few months ago.
Despite losing to Nasarawa Amazons 2-0 last week, Edo Queens still top the table in Group A with 23 points, from 10 matches, Nasarawa Amazons seat second with 21 points, Confluence Queens have 16 points, Naija Ratels 15 points, Osun Babes 14 points, Adamawa Queens 9 points while Pelican Stars have 4 points.
A win for the Obaseki ladies on Wednesday will move them to 26 points. It is nothing but total victory because looking at the intensive training of the girls for this particular match, one may right to posit that there will be no hiding place for Pelican Stars as we look forward to watching a high tactically equipped Edo Queens FC.
