Edo Queens FC of Benin are set to hit old Parade Ground in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja this week to honour an away return leg match against Naija Ratels in continuation of their unbeaten run at the ongoing NWFL premiership for 2021/2022 season.
Having played a total of seven matches without losing any, Edo Queens will go all out in this crucial game to ensure they secure away victory against the host team in Abuja on Wenesday. However, the Benin- based creative girls who have set a top- flight record since the beginning of this season are aware of the challenges ahead.
Though old Parade Ground which is the adopted home of the host team, Naija Ratels is not new to Edo Queens. During the 3rd edition of the 2021 Flying Officers Cup held at the Old Parade Ground Area 10 Abuja, Edo Queens did wonderfully well in that competition got to the finals and loss 0-1 to FC Robo. Naija Ratels FC the host team of that championship also suffered defeat in the hands of Edo Queens. That is not to say that they are push over, because all clubs participating in the NWFL premiership are potential winners.
In the first leg of the game between Edo Queens FC and Naija Ratels played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin-City, the new league comers came and ran away with a draw. But come on Wenesday in Abuja, Edo Queens are very positive of overwhelming victory hence, they have decided to train extra hard for the titanic battle.
Some of the hard fighting players who have been in strong form, scoring crucial goals and registering assists in seven appearances when it matters most are all working assiduously to repeat the same feat on Wenesday.
It is not going to be an easy game for borh side, but we are optimistic that the Godwin Obaseki girls will carry the day at end of regulation time.
Edo Queens Captain, Goodness Ihioma Onyebuchi, when asked how prepared they are for the Abuja cracker after Edo Queens 2-0 victory over Adamawa Queens in their last home game in Benin-City said:
“For our next game against Naija Ratels in Abuja, we are working very hard for victory, we are not going there for jamboree, there are a lot to play for, we know that Edo Queens is the team to beat, but our focus is on the three maximum points that is the most important thing to us. We are prepared for the battle, we are not going to.underrate any side, it is a very crucial and critical match, it is fight to finish. So we will work hard to get the best for our fans and the management.”
Edo Queens FC are currently on top of Group A with 17 points from 7 matches, followed by Nasarawa Amazons FC with 15 points, Naija Ratels 12 points, Confluence Queens FC 12 points, Adamawa Queens FC 9 points, Osun Babes FC 7 points and Pelica Stars FC 4 points.
A win for Edo Queens in this epic clash on Wenesday will earn them 20 points and also confirm their supremacy in the group.
