NWF/Prostar Awards: Smallish But Deadly, Kemi Adegbuyi Emerges As Prostar Player Of The Month Of January In NWFL Premiership

Kemi Adegbuyi has emerged as the best player in the Nigeria Women Football League/ NWF/Prostar Sports International Awards NWFL for the month January 2025.

The award which is instituted by Naija Women Football Awards, (NWF Awards) and proudly sponsored by Prostar Sports and First Mahi Investment saw the Robo Queens smallish but deadly Adegbuyi beats Adams Princess and Afemsimi Omon to the coveted award.

The Robo Queens attacker helped Robo Queens to a total of six points in possible nine, while providing five goals contribution in the total of 11 goals scored by Robo Queens in the month under review.

Beyond her two goals and three assists in the three matches played in January , Kemi distinguished herself with mesmerizing skills and general contributions to the success of her team on the pitch.

The winner of the player of the month award was determined by votes of a jury of women football, made of seasoned followers of the NWFL and fans of the NWFL.

Kemi pulled almost half of the total votes casted as she scored 49.3% of the votes, winning both both the fans and Jury votes emerging winner from the two different votes’ categories.

She will be presented with Award Plaque, Prostar Ball, Prostar Shirt all sponsored by Prostar Sports and Cash Prize sponsored by First Mahi Investment.

Meanwhile Adams Princess came second and Afemsimi Omon came third with 28.8% and 21.78% votes respectively.

Kemi Adegbuyi was discovered in 2021 at the First EkoFootball Women’s Championship in Lagos where she starred for OC Queens as a 10 year old Junior Secondary School student of Igbowu Junior Secondary School Mushin.

Her flair and touches attracted the attention of the fans as she was regarded as the one for the future .

In distant time, she was snapped up by Robo Queens and played for them at 2021 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament in Edo State.

The pint size left footer made her mark when she was introduced in the second half of the encounter and provided one of the assist for the then team captain, Gift Monday who scored all the five goals as Robo Queens whitewashed the Edo state based team 5-0.

Kemi is following the foot prints of super talents like Asisat Oshoala, Monday Gift, Rasheedat Ajibade,
Chidima Okeke, Esther Onyenezide etc all Super Falcons players who all passed through Robo Queens before hitting the big stage.

Kemi Adegbuyi sets her eyes on helping Robo Queens to finish as one of the top 3 in their group and stand a chance of winning the league via the Super Six.

Definitely, she has enough in her tank to help her team’s ambition in the season and a huge future ahead of her.
