The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has expressed huge shock over the untimely demise of the President of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation Hon. Yahaya Muhammad, who died on Sunday in Kano.
The Weightlifting Federation boss, who until his death served as the Special Assistant to Governor Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa State on Assembly matters, died on Sunday afternoon at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital after a ‘protracted illness’.
In a statement signed by its president Daniel Igali, the NWF described Hon. Muhammad’s death as a ‘rude shock,’ while praying God to give his immediate family the fortitude to bear his loss.
“Athletes, staff and the board of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation mourn the untimely demise of the president of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation Yahaya Muhammad. His death came as a very rude shock to us,” the NWF statement read.
“While praying for his soul to rest in the bosom of the Almighty God, we empathize with his immediate family, the weightlifting federation and the sports fraternity in Nigeria, and pray that God gives his immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
The statement added: “May God spare us all from such untimely death.”
