The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has congratulated the President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, on his historic election into the FIFA Council.
Last week, the NFF boss recorded a landslide of 43-8 votes against incumbent challenger Walter Nyamilandu of Malawi at the CAF Ordinary and Elective General Congress in Rabat, Morocco to emerge only the third Nigerian to secure a seat on FIFA’s highest decision-making body.
In a letter signed by its General Secretary, Abodi Patrick, the NWF hailed Pinnick for his outstanding leadership qualities, which ultimately led to his latest victory.
“Your victory is not a surprise considering your leadership quality and your contribution to the development of football in Nigeria, Africa and the world at large,” the letter read in part.
The NWF also charged Pinnick, who is a Member of the Organizing Committee for FIFA Competitions, to use his new office to attract success and glory to Nigeria and Africa at large.
“While we pray for your success in your new office, I also want to appeal to you to use your good office to bring back deserved glory of the continent at the highest body you are serving today,” the letter added.
The election of Pinnick – a former 1st Vice President of the continental ruling body, CAF – is for a four-year tenure.
