Nwankwo Kanu, Nigeria football legend and philanthropist is a year plus today, the veteran celebrated himself at the early hours of today as he joins the Lagos State Sports Commission Chairman, Sola Aiyepeku in sharing the same birth month and date.
Kanu who is regarded as one of the best players in African football history having won a UEFA Champions League medal, a UEFA Cup medal, three FA Cup medals, and two African Player of the Year awards amongst others is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

His own experience with a congenital heart defect moved him to set up the “Kanu Heart Foundation” in 2000, a foundation that aims to tackle homelessness, and which also built five hospitals in Africa to treat children with undiagnosed heart disease and provide them surgery.
