Nwabuoku Floors Quality Of Nigerian Women League

Former female national team star, Evelyn Nwabuoku has floored the quality of play in the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL), as she believes the standard has not produced players worthy of starting spots in the Super Falcons.

Speaking against the backdrop of only two home-based players in the starting line-up of the Africa Women Cup of Nations winning squad at Ghana 2019, Nwabuoku told sports247.ng that it is because the local league is not strong enough.

Nwabuoku, who was Nigeria’s captain at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, further argued that the Falcons and other female national teams in the country are affected by dwindling fortune of the league.

The 2014 AWCON winner warned further that the future of Nigerian women football is bleak, because the league has failed to produce top quality players in recent years.

Nwabuoku insisted: “The Women’s League in the country faces a bleak future and it could adversely affect the national teams.”
