Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was named Man of the Match after keeping a clean sheet in his side’s 0-0 draw against Richards Bay in the PSL yesterday. Nwabali’s display comes on the back of a challenging period off the field, having lost his father in mid-November 2024 and his mother barely a month later.

Earlier in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Nwabali had played in a 1-1 draw with Benin before being excused to bury his father, which led to his absence in the subsequent 2-1 loss against Rwanda. Despite these personal setbacks, the goalkeeper has shown remarkable resilience and determination to get back to top form.
Taking to his X account, Nwabali expressed his gratitude and renewed strength: “Not been easy healing. Man Of The Match and a clean sheet. All thanks to the team. We go again.”
His performance not only boosted his team’s defensive confidence but also stands as a testament to his ability to overcome adversity. As he continues to recover and lead on the field, fans and teammates alike are inspired by his unwavering commitment to the game.
