He expressed pride in the progress made thus far but emphasized that there were greater heights to reach.
In his address, Nimrod unveiled the federation’s primary objective: to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Highlighting the significance of this goal, he stressed that the federation’s focus was squarely set on securing a spot in the prestigious global event after missing out on the opportunity in the last two editions.
With determination and conviction, Nimrod rallied the players, coaches, and technical staff, urging them to channel their efforts towards achieving Olympic qualification.
He emphasized that while the African Games served as an important platform, their ultimate priority lay in securing a berth for Paris 2024.
Nimrod expressed confidence in the team’s capabilities and assured Nigerians that the federation was fully committed to reclaiming Nigeria’s position as a volleyball powerhouse in Africa.
He announced plans for the team to compete in Morocco, where they would strive to secure the coveted ticket to Paris 2024, vowing that Nigeria would not falter in its pursuit this time.
“I want to assure Nigeria that we are taking back our position in Africa. I want to challenge the players that as they prepare for the African Games.
As far as we are concerned, the African Games is secondary. Our main goal is to qualify for Paris 2024. I want to challenge the coaches, the technical crew and the players.
We are already on board to go to Morocco to pick the winning ticket to Paris 2024. We missed it twice. This time, by the grace of God, Nigeria will not miss it.”
With a resolute spirit and a clear vision, NVBF President Musa Nimrod set forth a bold and ambitious path for Nigerian volleyball, instilling hope and determination in the hearts of players and supporters alike.
As the journey towards Olympic qualification begins, the Nigerian volleyball community stands united in its quest for excellence and success on the global stage.
