Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has lined out 12 young players in Lome, Togo for the Africa Junior Tennis Championship qualifiers in Lome, Togo.
The team made of six boys and six girls will be coached by Abel Ubiebi and Patience Onebamboin at the competition, which sports247.ng learnt will begin on Tuesday and run till next Wednesday.
Mary Udofia, Rebecca Ekpeyong and US-based Marylove Edwards will compete in the under-16 Girls category while Iye Onoja, Serena Teluwo and Oiza Yakubu will play in the under-14 category.
In the under-16 Boys event, UK based Andu Mukhtar, fast-rising youngster, Matthew Abamu and Usman Kushimo will lead the charge.
Ganiyu Mubarak, Ibrahim Suleiman and Joshua Maxwell will compete for honours in the under-14 event.
Coach Ubiebi said he expects good results from all the players, who he says are in good shape and rearing to go, considering that they were all in high spirits ahead of the trip.
Ubiebi said: ”They all appear enthusiastic and are raring to go. They have also shown positive attitudes in training which is very important ahead of such an important tournament. I believe we shall return victorious.”
