NSSFFL Reaches Intense Lagos State Preliminaries As Teams Competes For National Finals

The Nigeria American Football Association (NAFA) has announced that over 80 secondary schools participating in the Nigeria Secondary Schools Flag Football League (NSSFFL) in Lagos are battling it out for a chance to represent the state in the highly anticipated national finals.

The national finals are scheduled to take place from July 31 to August 5 and promise to be a thrilling event showcasing the best of flag football talent.

The Lagos State preliminaries of the NAFA League will conclude on Friday at Greensprings Schools in Lekki. This stage of the competition is witnessing the participation of schools from all six districts of the state, making it a true test of skills and determination.

According to Lawrence Ojaideh, Secretary of NAFA, other states have already completed their preliminaries, and their representative schools are eagerly preparing to head to Akure for the national finals. The NSSFFL has been successful in generating significant publicity for American football at the grassroots level across various states.

In the Lagos finals alone, a total of 40 boys’ teams and 40 girls’ teams have fiercely competed since the tournament commenced on June 26. The competition, which is set to conclude on July 7, has showcased remarkable talent and provided a platform for young athletes to shine.

The winners from each of the six districts in Lagos will advance to the finals, where they will battle it out to secure their spot as Lagos’ representatives in the national finals held in Ondo State. The anticipation is high as teams showcase their skills and determination to emerge victorious.

Ojaideh expressed his enthusiasm about the progress of the state preliminaries and highlighted the captivating nature of the competition thus far. He listed the states expected to participate in the national finals as Ondo, Ogun, Oyo, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

As the Lagos State preliminaries near their conclusion, excitement builds as schools vie for the chance to compete on a national stage.
