Captain of Delta State Female Hockey, Esther Bilo has assured good people of Delta state and spectators in the ongoing National Sports Festival that Team Delta will not settle for anything less than Gold Medal.
She stated this shortly after they sent parking Team Lagos by 3-0 from the 21st edition of National Sports Festival.
“Hockey game is one of the areas where Delta State is expecting Gold medal and anything less than top will be unacceptable ” Said the fair skinned hockey athlete.
As at Day 6 of the biennual competition, the Defending Champions are still holding sway to their title recording 127 medals made up of 69 gold, 33 silver and 25 bronze with Ogun and Oyo occupying 2nd and 3rd position on the medals table far below the table topper
The defending Champions had from the word go occupied the 1st position on the table, and Ogun State is closely following with 30 medals (10 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze) while Oyo State is 3rd on the table with 25 medals (9 gold, 10 silver and 6 bronze).
As it stands now the coast is getting clearer day by day as Abia, Bayelsa and Edo are jostling to push harder in the ongoing competition with Oyo 25 medals with 9 gold , 10 Silver and 6 bronze 30 medals (8 gold, 7 silver, 15 bronze) Edo – 54 (7 gold, 16 silver, 31 bronze); Imo – 14 (6 gold, 1 silver, 7 bronze) and Lagos – 32 (5 gold, 15 silver, 12 bronze) trying to outrun one another. The questions begging for answer is which state will occupy second, third fourth?
The competition left the remaining States recording between 1 and 21 medals respectively, while Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Yobe and Zamfara States are yet to record a single medal since the commencement of the Games.
