A total of 400 Non-League football players based in Lagos State are to receive COVID-19 relief package on Thursday and Friday this week.
The Project is sponsored by Nigeria Sports Federation (NSF)-USA and packaged by Sportflames Communications and GIS Sports.
NSF-USA Coordinator in Nigeria and Managing Partner of Sportflames Communications, Olatoye Olawale informed of NSF-USA gesture as a way of cushioning the effect of COVID-19 on players in the grassroots.
” The NSF-USA annually celebrates Nigeria’s Independence in diaspora with a football tournament in the United States, but could not hold one this year in Atlanta, GA due to the novel Coronavirus outbreak that has halted football activities globally.
” As a result of this, the Federation decided to distribute COVID19 relief packages to Four Hundred footballers in Ikeja and Surulere Local Government, to serve as support in this challenging time globally and also a Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) as a federation in diaspora.
” The package is not cash but food items that can sustain these players and family members.”
A courtesy visits to the Executive Chairmen of the two Local Government Councils Engr. Mojeed Balogun (Ikeja) and his colleague in (Surulere) Hon. Tajudeen Ajide and also with Executives of Ikeja and Surulere Regional Leagues will be held before Friday.
Distribution of the COVID-19 relief packages on Thursday (15th, October) and Friday (16th, October) at the Surulere Local Government and Ikeja Local Government councils at 11am respectively.
