Kano State will play Niger United in after defeating Sokoto State, Monday, in the quarter final of the handball event of the 21st national sports festival in Asaba, Delta State.
Kano and Sokoto lit up the quarter final of the male category as they were equally poised to win the match but Kano came through with the last shot of the match to win 24-23 while host Delta defeated Imo 19-15.
Niger State comfortably defeated Ogun 19-12 and will face Kano in an interesting semi final while Lagos edged out FCT with a 25-22 victory.
In the female category, Oyo defeated Sokoto 18-17 while Delta conveniently defeated Kaduna 32-24.
Plateau State needed to dig deep to defeat Edo 16-15 while Imo State showed some level of experience as they defeated Lagos 27-23.
