Dikko emphasized that referees play a vital role in the development of the domestic league, which in turn contributes significantly to the national economy. He underscored the importance of the league in shaping the country’s football future and affirmed that improving officiating was central to achieving this goal.

“We are placing so much emphasis on growing our local contents,” Dikko remarked, referencing the legacy of football legends like Pele who emphasized the importance of a country’s domestic league.

He reiterated that a successful domestic league is a key driver in developing Nigeria’s sports economy and called for a collective effort from all stakeholders to improve every aspect of the league.

Dikko further highlighted that the NSC was ready to engage with the NRA and other relevant bodies to identify the challenges faced by referees and offer necessary support.

Drawing from his own experience in working closely with the NRA, Dikko pointed out his past contributions, including supporting referees’ developmental programs and providing essential resources, which had set new standards for the future.

NRA President, Zubairu, expressed his support for the NSC’s objectives and acknowledged the progress made in officiating so far this season.

He praised Dikko’s leadership, stating that the NSC Chairman’s experience and dedication made him well-suited to drive change in the domestic league.

Zubairu assured that the NRA would continue to collaborate with the NSC and remain committed to enhancing officiating standards, believing that Dikko’s leadership would ensure the success of the league and the broader sports sector in Nigeria.
