The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Chief Bukola Olopade, has underscored the vital role of sports journalists in the success of the 22nd National Sports Festival.
Speaking during a strategic meeting with the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, and the Ogun State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Olopade emphasized the importance of collaboration between all stakeholders.

The meeting, held at the Ministry of Sports Development conference room in Abeokuta, focused on strengthening the synergy between the NSC, LOC, and sports writers to ensure a successful festival.
Chief Olopade described sports writers as essential partners in sports advancement, urging them to keep promoting the efforts and preparedness of the Ogun State government in hosting the festival.
He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his administration’s unwavering commitment to sports development, particularly through the construction and renovation of modern sports facilities across the state.
According to Olopade, these infrastructural upgrades have not only improved the quality of the festival but have also generated employment for over 10,000 individuals, especially young people.
The Executive Secretary of the LOC, Dr. Kweku Tandoh, assured sports writers of the LOC’s dedication to delivering a successful festival and called on all stakeholders to play their roles effectively.
Also present at the meeting was the Special Adviser to Governor Abiodun on Information and Media Strategy, Chief Kayode Akinmade, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the games.
Chairman of the Ogun State SWAN, Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji, expressed appreciation to the NSC and LOC for acknowledging the role of sports writers.
“We are proud to support the Ogun State government and the LOC in making this 22nd National Sports Festival a remarkable success,” Ogunsiji said. “We remain committed to highlighting the state’s preparations and showcasing Governor Abiodun’s significant investment in sports.”
