NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko Declares: Eagles Getting Three Points Against Zimbabwe Is Non-negotiable

The chairman of Nigeria’s National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko has heaped praises on the Super Eagles for their 2-0 victory away to Rwanda on Friday, but quickly interjected that getting three points against Zimbabwe this Tuesday in Uyo is ‘non-negotiable.’

Sports247 gathered that Dikko made the declaration a few minutes after Friday’s game in Kigali, which he witnessed live physically with NSC’s director-general, Bukola Olopade as well as former sports minister, Chief Sunday Dare and other top shots, who all expressed delight with what became the Eagles’ first ever victory at Amahuro Stadium.

A press release by the communications department of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) further revealed that Dikko equally expressed the delight of President Bola Tinubu with the Eagles’ victory, which put them back on track for qualification to next year’s FIFA World Cup that will jointly take place in Canada, USA and Mexico.

Dikko said: “You have done us proud. You have shown the true Nigerian never-say-die spirit. Let me, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and indeed the teeming Nigerian football faithful, congratulate you for this performance. The President has mandated us to ensure that Nigeria’s flag is hoisted at the World Cup, and we will do all we can to support the NFF to deliver the ticket.”

He then urged the players to turn their focus fully on Tuesday’s game at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, while harping on the need for them to consolidate on Friday’s result by winning all their remaining matches in order to make it to what will be the biggest Mundial yet.

“Tuesday is another day. Let’s consolidate on what we have done here (in Kigali). Indeed, what happened here is what I can call preparation meets competence and capability. You guys are very talented and exceptional players. Thus, we move on the same lane, and three points against Zimbabwe is non-negotiable,” Dikko emphasised
