The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) has expressed its readiness to develop Rugby game in Kogi State.

The Federation’s Development Officer, Wuraola Hussain disclosed this in an interview.
In order to help the game expand in the State, the Federation, according to her, is collaborating with Traditional Rulers and the State Chapter, which is led by Mrs. Olufunke Kanjuni.
She pointed out that rugby, which is typically characterized as a hooligan sport played by gentlemen, is another way of curtailing youth restivenes by involving them in meaningful activities that will help them grow up to be contributing members of society.
“Everyone is our target audience, including young people and, in particular, secondary school kids, locals, college students, and adults who will like and desire to play the game. We’re accessible.
She pointed out that there is Rugby for special people (people living with disabilities) such as wheelchair rugby, and deaf rugby among others.
The Rugby Development Officer urged the government and people of Kogi State to embrace the game as it has a lot of benefits for both young and old.
“I want to charge Kogi people to embrace the game as it has a lot of benefits. There are opportunities for the youths to play professional and international Rugby and earn good money. There are also opportunities for scholarships because it is an international game.
Wuraola said Nigeria is the fifth rugby fastest growing country in the world, saying both men and women are doing well in the competition.
She added that the Federation has a league in the country which will commence soon, pointing out that it will be played based on geopolitical zones.
