After leading the players to a light walk-out this morning, the club left for Ikenne, where the team is expected to camp, and also participate in the NPL pre-season competition held between the 4th and 10th of August 2023, at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State.
While commending the state government and the stakeholders for their support of the team, Coach Dogo said that the team, despite starting late, had no choice but to fashion their preparations alongside the commencement date of the apex league.
“The camping and pre-season are crucial to our preparations. According to the Organizers, the league will commence on August 26th.
The pre-season will serve as a build-up, as it will afford us the opportunity to re-assess the players we have picked so far.
“We are going to Ikenne with as many players as possible, out of which we will continue with the plus and minus until we get the right combination of players for the team.
“That is not to say that we will not be ready for the league. We have just concluded the first phase of preparations, and from our campaign in the ValueJet competition and other friendly matches, we will be certain to what level we will be ready by then.
“The date has already been fixed. We can’t change it, but to work towards it. We thank God for the level of support we are getting from the government, Sports Commission, and the management, being led by Kumbi Titiloye.
This year’s ValueJet pre-season will be the second tournament to be organized in the summer before the commencement of the 2023-24 League campaign both domestically and on the continent following the advent of the Naija Super 8.
The ValueJet Cup is proudly sponsored by the owners of ValueJet Airline, a private domestic Nigeria airline, led by Remo Stars Chief Kunle Soname, and is prepared to host eight invited Nigeria Premier League Clubs.
