Remo Stars returned to winning ways in the Nigeria Professional Football League 2022 season with a 3-0 win over southwestern rivals Sunshine Stars in MD17.
The Sky Blues who recently suffered defeat to Enyimba Int’l in Aba needed to bounce back to keep their place in the top three and a brace from Andy Okpe who came off the bench complemented Seun Ogunribide’s sublime volley which opened the scoring.
“I feel very happy and excited to give Remo Stars a brace today because we needed this point very much, knowing fully well that we have to do all it takes to win our home games and we look forward,” Andy told Sports247 after the game.
“I recently fell ill and I told the coach that I didn’t want to play the game and he said I should sit on the bench and study the game and maybe come in to change the game and that’s how it was,” he added.
Remo Stars occupy the third position on the league table with 29 points, 9 points away from Rivers United at the top and one point ahead of Rangers Int’l in fourth place as they next travel to Niger Tornadoes in matchday 18.
