Kano Pillars have had an ill-luck start to 2019/2020 NPFL season with bad results both home and away.
Currently, in the league, the Masu Gida are battling relegation from the 18th position with a minus 2 goal difference from 3 games although with a game yet to be played.
Pillars started the season with a goalless draw against Rivers United before crumbling to the swords of Lobi Stars and most recently, Jigawa Golden Stars.
The loss to Lobi Stars prompted the club’s management to issue a three-match ultimatum to the technical crew to revive things or face the rod. Already with a game down out of the three, there is more pressure on the team to deliver.
With no goals scored this season, the Ibrahim Musa led side even have more daunting games coming up in two weeks as they will tackle Wikki Tourist and league leaders, Plateau United.
Wikki Tourist have only lost a game this season to Plateau United and considering their interesting start to the season, they will be a mountain to climb; Plateau, on the other hand, are yet to lose which means Kano Pillars will need more than what they have at the moment to get results in both games.
Players like Suraj Ayeleso, who once had highest clean sheets in the league, Bright Silas, Musa Ahmad will need to step their game up for the team to earn the name – ‘the Ahly killers’ again; a name earned in 2009 following their CAF champions league semi-final run.
The AITEO Cup holders will need to do extremely more on the pitch of play to make the board and fans of the beloved club happy.
