For a second week, Israel abia of Sunshine stars was unable to hit the target as his team could only salvage a 1-1 draw with Dakkada FC in Akure; the Akure gunners were saved by Fuad Ekelojuoti’s 95th minute strike to earn a point. Despite not scoring, Abia’s 7 goals still top this season’s NPFL goal scorers’ chart.
It was same situation for Abia Warriors’ Jimoh Oni who had been firing in goals for the warriors. Although Abia Warriors demolished league leaders, Plateau United 3-0, the goals came from the unusual suspect but Oni was involved as he got an assist for the second goal after nodding down the ball for Guy Keumian late on in the game.
In Katsina, one man who cannot stop scoring is Taisu Lawal. The Katsina United captain has netted 6 goals this term after netting a brace yesterday to give his team all three points in a 5 goal thriller against Jigawa Golden Stars. Lawal is now leveled with Victor Mbaoma who was on continental duties with Enyimba yesterday.
Meanwhile, Femi Ajayi of Dakkada FC scored his third of the season as 2009 golden boot winner, Arakandut Orok also scored his third of the season for Akwa United.
Bello Lukman of Abia Warriors got his first ever top flight goal after Guy Keumian put the ball on a plate for him in the 87th minute to score Abia Warrior’s third. Samuel Kalu’s lone goal also helped FC Ifeanyi Ubah to defeat Heratland of Owerri in Anambra.
The likes of Ibrahim Mustapha (Plat united), Austin Oladapo (Enyimba), Daniel Jackson (Wikki Tourist), Nerot Silas (Plateau United), Idris Guda Mohammed (Wikki) are yet to add to their goal tallies in recent weeks.
