Warri Wolves’ winger, Williams Sunday, has expressed his delight at the Seasiders’ 2 – 0 win over Abia Warriors on Matchday 31 of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, on Sunday at the Delta State Polytechnic Stadium in Ozoro.
Speaking after the entertaining encounter, Williams said the result was a breath of fresh air into the team’s resolve to beat the drop zone of the league table.
He noted that the tie against Abia Warriors was not an easy fixture.
“The match wasn’t easy,” Williams stated.
“Our coach told us to try to push on so that we can get the goal.”
“I feel great that I scored the first goal. I expect more from myself because I’ve been training and working hard.”
“I’ve been pushing. Our coach told us many things. I just need to push more before our next game.”
The winger played the entire 90 minutes and had a Man-of-the-Match performance against the visitors.
Two minutes two into the game, Williams sent Warri Wolves into the lead after a well-taken strike inside the vital area.
Twelve minutes later, he turned provider when he set Ihezuo Emmanuel on the path to score the second goal of the game with a pinpoint pass inside the box 18-yard.
Warri Wolves will play Rivers United on Matchday 32 in the NPFL on July 11.
